It has been done! Though the address isn't what I was expecting, it is still an improvement over the current hosting here at Tripod. Thank you Tripod for your many months of service, but the University of Waterloo Anthropology Society now has a new web address:

http://artsweb.uwaterloo.ca/~anthsoc/

This site will no longer be updated at this address, so please update your links and I'll see you all at the new site. Ta ta for now!

I just received an e-mail from the Laurier Archaeological Society regarding their Winter Formal! It's going to take place on January 24th (the Friday after next!) at the Walper Terrace Hotel, downtown Kitchener (Crystal Ballroom). Cocktails are being served at 6pm, dinner at 7pm, and dancing will go until 1am. Chicken will be served for dinner and there will also be a vegan option for all you veggie people out there. Tickets are $30 on sale in the concourse on Laurier Campus until January 22nd. I have heard great things about the past formals and hope that this one will be just as successful. For more info, send me an e-mail and I'll do my best to answer your questions. Hope to see you all there!

I have amazing news that I feel everyone should know. The University of Waterloo Anthropology Society Website has FINALLY gotten itself onto the university servers! No more crappy pop-ups! Now, I suppose I shouldn't say anything yet, since the site is still on Tripod, but it will soon be moving to the following address: anthsoc.uwaterloo.ca . . . isn't that beautiful? I will make a link to the new URL at this site, but I will no longer be updating this site after the other is up and running. So, hang tight and keep coming back to this URL until I post otherwise.

In other, arguably less exciting news, the Anthropology department will be hosting a special event entitled "A Kalahari Family", consisting of several films from the series of the same name, as well as some presentations by guest lecturers. The final details are being ironed out as we speak, and I'll post the relevant information as soon as Dr. Zeller sees fit to keep me in the know, as it were. What little I do know is that everyone and anyone is invited to attend. Students with valid university ID and faculty will be admitted without charge, and all others will have to pay $10. The event is scheduled to take place Feb 28th and March 1st, though this may change if problems arise. Like I said, once I know something useful, you'll all be the first (or second I guess) to know. The ANTH 290 class will certainly be attending, since a good portion of their mark depends on it. Sounds like a fun way to earn 8%! We will be doing our best to get the McMaster, Laurier and Western societies to join us as well.

Also, the society execs will be meeting this Wednesday at 5:30 to discuss our gambling debts, Shauna's kleptomania, and potentially some useful Anth Society topics. Again, please e-mail or speak to us about ideas and suggestions you may or may not (?) have for us. As hard as we may try, that whole telepathy thing is not as easy to master as our "Reading Minds for Dummies" book suggests. And, as I said last time, a general meeting will also be organized very soon so that all interested can meet with us and discuss in person. Of course, if you ARE telepathic, then we won't need to tell you when that is. Just please don't send us suggestions that way since we won't know it's you talking or if it's just one of those other voices we periodically hear.

That's all for now, friends! Tune in next week for more crazy hijinx with your favourite anthro-society geeks!

Welcome back everybody! I trust you all had a wonderful holiday season. Yes I know things have been a little slow on the website, as well as in the department, but we in the executive council are trying hard to plan events for the society this term. I expect to have the next issue of the pub crawl review up by either tonight or tomorrow, provided I survive the first day of classes. The council will be holding a general meeting sometime in the first two weeks of class that I hope you can all attend. Bring your ideas and suggestions . . . hmm, and maybe some doughnuts too. Especially the kind with sprinkles . . . Mmmm, sprinkles. Together we can plan the greatest term of Anth Society events EVER. Or at least a reasonable facsimile. Hope to see you all out!

-December 12th, 2002-

The first issue of the pub crawl review is now posted! Sadly, it is little more than an introduction, but that's all you people get for now. You can access it through the Event Info section at the bottom of the pub crawl page. I shall endeavor to add a new issue to the review very soon. If only these pesky exams would go away...

-December 1st, 2002-

Well, it's that time of year again! Don't you just love exams? The Anth Society Executive Council would like to wish everyone good luck on this term's finals. Remember to study hard, get plenty of sleep, and do everything else your mom told you to. Please note that spending the night before your big exam partying at Phil's or the Bomber might reduce your stress, but won't do much for your grades.

Best of luck to everyone!
